Information & Digital Technology Manager (Finance Center of Excellence)

The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced IT Manager to join our “new to Krakow” Information & Digital Technology Team (IDT Team).

The Finance Business IDT team delivers the Digital Roadmap for Finance and Royal Dutch Shell. The key focus areas are Finance Digital Core, EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) and Insights from Data. 

As SBO Krakow has become an increasingly important location for Shell, our global IDT design now sees Krakow as a Business Proximate IT location and hence, we are building a strong IDT team here with ambition to establish significant and long-term presence in Poland.

The IDT Manager is dedicated to the Finance Operations and is end-to-end accountable for the full reach and scope of their IT Business Portfolio. The IDT Manager owns the IT Strategic Plan for the Portfolio, co-creating and evergreening IDT’s technology and data response to business vision, priorities and challenges through the business facing natural team.  He/she must manage  risks across the Portfolio and drive compliance to agreed Enterprise IT standards, representing this agenda equally to business stakeholders. The business-facing natural team must be mobilised by the IDT Manager and orchestrated effectively to understand the business vision and deliver key outcomes, as captured in the corresponding IT Strategic Plan.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Stakeholder Management   
    Manages a network of business and x-functional IT stakeholders, structuring relationships to build rapport, trust, and mutual respect.  Leads business stakeholder engagements and seeks to inform, influence and challenge, using data driven insights to frame compelling stories.
  2. Integrated Business and IT Strategy  
    Owns, co-creates, and evergreens the IT Strategic Plan for the IT business portfolio.  Operates as the business co-pilot, leading with commercial mindset to enable business vision and fulfil business KPIs from technology and data.
  3. Value Generation & Protection  
    Obsesses about unlocking business value and applying a commercial mindset to all aspects of the IT business portfolio. 
  4. IT Portfolio Management  
    Seeks input to the IT Strategic Plan from across the business-facing natural team, refreshing the Plan with the team consistently during the year. 
  5. Business Intelligence
    Understands the Company’s Group vision, strategy and purpose and how the business portfolio contributes to its fulfilment. 
    Understands the value chain of the business portfolio, customer journeys, and customer touchpoints. 
    Applies business KPIs to measure IT business portfolio performance

Requirements: 

  • Finance Process - Knowledge on Finance Processes including Liquidity, Cash Management, Group Reporting and Strategy.

  • Business Leader - Speaks candidly and with authority about commercial aspirations and resulting business strategies, priorities, and models. Recognises business KPIs, challenges and risks to success. Inspires others to build and demonstrate a commercial mindset. Adopts customer-centric ways of working. 

  • Technology Practitioner - Frames and brings to life compelling stories about the commercial opportunity possible from technology adoption/exploitation. Demonstrates observable technological prowess through curiosity about the art of the possible and access to a range of external thought leaders. Orchestrates effectively the business facing natural team - brokering agreements across IT and functional lines when required. Represents strongly and to its fullest extent the Enterprise IT strategy, balancing IT priorities against business demand to ensure compliance across architecture, platforms, and data. Shares business insights to IT colleagues to inform service development and to aid planning around service readiness timelines. Generates thought leadership consistently from a mix of internal and external sources/networks, shaping this to talk to the most relevant business themes.

  • Digitally Literate - Speaks with authority about new and emerging products and services.  Seeks to challenge business stakeholders constructively by demonstrating the disruption potential from new technologies and opportunity points for new business models.
