Lead R&D Scientist (Pharmaceutical Packaging)
Key areas of responsibility:
- Provide technical packaging application development support for fluoropolymer resins and Aclar® films and Aclar Edge Bottles / Vials
- Assist Market Development Manager(s) during account development by providing technical leadership, education and training to raise awareness and drive adoption of Aclar® applications and resins for pharmaceutical and CPG packaging needs
- Collaborate with end users to facilitate the following processes: package concept development, material selection, package characterization, tooling/equipment design and commercialization
- Guide customer through the material characterization selection process with the use of various methods of evaluation for Material Testing, Barrier Prediction, Design Verification and Weight Change Analysis
- Collaborate with internal packaging & process engineers to evaluate concept designs for manufacturing feasibility
- Function as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and represent Honeywell LPI at industry trade shows, technical seminars, luncheons, workshops, etc.
- Travel as needed to provide educational and technical support for customer meetings, line trials, stability trials, FAT/SAT, validation, commercial startups and trouble shooting

- A BE/BS in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, or related field
- Experience in package development of multiple packaging formats and materials for rigid, semi-rigid and flexible formats with advanced experience in design, development and testing of Co-extruded films, thermoforming, Injection Molding, Blow Molding and Testing
- Direct technical experience in all forms of packaging development emphasizing blow molding, injection molding, thermoforming as well as knowledge of the regulatory process for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and consumer packaging
- Experience as a Project leader or Senior Level Engineer leading the design and development of primary multi-layer co-extruded films, thermoforming and rigid (IBM/EBM/IM) packaging systems and related processes with a focus on pharmaceutical packaging
- Extensive experience designing, developing, and managing testing methodologies and plans to support shelf life experiments, barrier analysis and permeation characteristics of multiple packaging formats used to contain solid oral dose, oral and topical liquids, topical powders, sterile and other related formats
- Demonstrated knowledge of rigid and flexible packaging manufacturing processes (IBM/EBM/IM), Statistical Process Control, Closure / Liner Systems, Tolerance Analysis, Print Approval, Mold Development, Validation and Approval
- Working knowledge of pharmaceutical packaging / filling / capping / labeling / equipment for solid dose, liquids, powders, sterile and non-sterile packaging lines with am emphasis on thermoforming and liquid filling packaging systems
- Working knowledge of the Regulatory environment and submission guidelines for new drug product registration process including ICH stability guidelines. Familiarity with FDA, EMEA & Japanese Regulatory requirements relating to package design and selection of pharmaceutical products and other
