Head of Software Engineering

Requirements:

  • Passion for transformational leadership, technology, product development, and fast paced delivery using multi-layer scalable agile and lean mechanisms
  • BSc/MSc in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience successfully leading multi-layer teams of software developers through multiple product development life-cycles
  • Excellent analytical skills with written and oral communication capability that is successful presenting to senior management levels outside of Digital

It would also be great to have:

  • Self Serve, customer service serve, customer service tool and technologies
  • Expertise in disparate markets, technologies, and leadership methodologies across different types of business entities (e.g. start-ups, joint ventures, and complex multi-nationals)
  • A track record of introducing new, multi-organisational processes that improve supply chain efficiency, total cost of ownership, and/or time to market
  • Autonomous success communicating with markets, other supply chain partners, and executive management to collect and deliver on business, product, and engineering goals.
  • Successfully mentored and promoted senior managers, managers, principal engineers, and technical programme managers

Responsibilities:

  • Developing  leaders that autonomously define and update the structure and vision for their team(s) including both input and output metrics that connect team performance with broader cross-organisational customer and business outcomes 
  • Providing SERL with technical and specifically multi-channel modern and progressive Digital thought leadership, strategy and vision
  • Building lean organisations that contain rock star teams of Agile, cross functional software engineers, testers, technical programme managers, and data scientists who deliver predictably excellent results through rapid iterations that pivot in line with evolving business needs
  • Ensuring the wider business and IT prioritise higher value  ideas and initiatives by providing insight in a data driven way
  • Have a deep understanding of customer, business, financial, and legal requirements that ensure your products and services are successful including healthy relationships with senior management and experts across HR, Legal, Procurement and Finance
  • Creating a multi-layer, 360 degree engaged organisational culture based on the SERL Values that scores highly in our SERL Employee Engagement  survey. Define standards of excellence for your organisation and take ownership for achieving the results
  • Developing processes to track your team’s metrics (e.g. OKRs, KPIs, SLAs, Velocity etc), that enable you to quickly identify when projects are at risk and act decisively to get them back on track. Providing leadership in multi-team, cross-organisational forums and define new ways for output improvement that are adopted across multiple teams including those outside the Digital organisation
