Lead Tax Specialist - Indirect Tax

This role is part of the GE Aviation indirect tax team that is responsible for managing indirect tax compliance obligations for the business across the globe. The main purpose of the team is to determine GE Aviation's worldwide indirect tax liability, maximize indirect tax refunds, file indirect tax returns with the highest integrity while complying with worldwide indirect tax compliance obligations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Handle all wing-to-wing indirect tax reporting and tax accounting processes including indirect tax return preparation, review, submission, initiating payments, carry out and/or review indirect tax account reconciliations for GE Aviation legal entities across the globe
  • Prepare, review and/or submit indirect tax related filings, such as European sales and purchase listing reports, SAF-T declarations if any and/or Intrastat filings
  • Support and/or coordinate external, tax authority indirect tax audits and support internal audits and external statutory audits
  • Identify, drive, and achieve compliance process improvements and/or implement changes in VAT legislation into the day to day compliance processes
  • Identify, support, and advise any projects from an indirect tax perspective, which includes ERP implementation, country compliance rule changes, utilization of the GE VAT reporting tools, optimization of VAT cash flow
  • Identify key indirect tax risks in the compliance process including systems, processes and documentations, address those risks and work on fixing them if required
  • Develop in-depth indirect tax knowledge for multiply countries around the world

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree, Professional Accounting/VAT Qualifications
  • Strong English language, accounting, analytical, presentation skills, strong process management skills
  • Strong communications skills to address complex tax issues, opportunities
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and strict deadlines
  • Capable of taking ownership and fixing issues
  • Sound VAT compliance and practical judgment, permitting ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Understanding and experience in the use of data analytic and other Indirect Tax technology tools
  • Ability to partner effectively with GE Aviation indirect tax team members, business management, controlling, and other finance personnel

 

Advantages:

  • Detailed expertise in indirect tax data analytic tools such as Alteryx etc

The team is based in Budapest, however we are closely working together with Polish entity therefore local (PL) applications are welcome.
